The Panther

[Part I - The Encounter]

I turned around
And there you were

No sound
No footsteps
Nothing before

Two eyes in the darkness
Looking straight through me

I couldn't tell if you were watching
Or waiting for me

I said:
Who are you?

You didn't move

Where did you come from?

You just looked at me

[Part II - The Voice]

Then I heard you
Though your mouth never moved

You keep asking where I came from
You keep asking where I go

Tell me what you are

Does it really matter?

Tell me why you're here

Perhaps you already know

[Part III]

I saw you beside the river
Then you vanished in the rain

I saw you in the city
Then I found you there again

You walked across the desert
Like the desert knew your name

I looked away for one second

You were gone

[Part IV - The Question]

You have crossed so many borders
But you carry them inside

You have travelled half the world
Still you haven't travelled far

Are you real?

Are you?

[Outro]

I looked into those eyes

For the first time
I had no question

Only silence

And she walked away
